Wacken Open Air 2022 is in the starting blocks! In a few weeks, tenthousands of fans will be rocking together again on the Holy Ground! Today 22 additional bands have been announced for the biggest metal party of the year!
Above all, the mighty Powerwolf don't want to miss the chance to celebrate a metal mass! Next to gothic novel rockers ASP, Life Of Agony as one of the most important alternative metal bands, German punk legends Slime, Ann Wilson, singer of Heart and member of the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame.
Continued by Vended, medieval rockers Corvus Corax Era Metallum, classic British metal with Satan and Finnish ESC attendees Blind Channel. And Torfrock, thrashers Space Chaser and Insanity Alert, death metallers Blood Incantation, black metallers The Spirit, Manntra as Croatian folk metal outfit, Bulgaria's Gwendydd and Hamburger hard rockers Hardbone join them.
Last but not least, the one and only Mambo Kurt, legendary Wacken Firefighters, Mutz, 5th Avenue and Acoustic Steel should not be missed at this year’s big return.
And then there's a group you probably wouldn't expect to see at Wacken: Höhner are making their way from Cologne to Wacken!
Wacken Open Air festival co-founder Holger Hübner explains this extraordinary combination: “Höhner singer Henning Krautmacher and I recently sat together at the bar after an event at Kalkberg in Bad Segeberg. We talked about the fact that he's only remaining part of the band for this year and joked that a small gig in Wacken would be nice for such a farewell. A few drinks later we thought: let’s do that! Now we feel honored to be able to honor the work of this legend of the German music scene in this way - a crazy idea in the best sense. Just like when W:O:A was founded back then!”
His partner Thomas Jensen adds: "We are very happy to be able to present a good load of additional bands for every taste in music! From power metal to thrash, black and death to German punk, there is something for everyone. After two years of involuntary silence in Wacken, the anticipation for a full dose of live music increases immeasurably!”
Wacken Open Air 2022 takes place from August 4th until August 6th. The optional additional day Wacken Wednesday celebrates with a high-quality program this year on August 3rd its premiere. Tickets are still available for all W:O:A ticket holders as pre-order here.
